Britney's just too hot to look at

YOU can't blame BRITNEY SPEARS for slipping on a bikini whenever the sun comes out.

The Womanizer star flaunted her toned body in a vibrant pink two-piece poolside at the Ritz Carlton in California.

But not all eyes were drawn to Britney's figure - one of her shy bodyguards covered his face to block out the fine sight.

That's hardly conducive to keeping your employer out of harm's way.

That said, her other minders aren't so prudish around the sexy superstar, as demonstrated by the burly fella whose hand drifted dangerously close to Britney's bra-free bust earlier in the day.

‘Bra Ball’ to benefit women in chemical dependency treatment

You’ve got to give Sarah Jakubek, manager of the Cloquet Curves women’s exercise center, credit for originality. At the beginning of this month, Jakubek launched what she hopes will be an annual “Bra Ball” event to collect undergarments for women being treated for chemical dependency at the Liberalis C.A.R.E. Center in Carlton.

“I recently had the opportunity to give a wonderful woman a bra that I no longer wore,” explained Jakubek. “She has been down on her luck and the last two years have been very difficult for her – she was divorced, lost her home, finances and job and became an alcoholic.”
Sarah Jakukbek of Curves in Cloquet holds up the beginnings of a “Bra Ball” - part of a campaign to collect bras to donate to the women of the Liberalis chemical dependency program in Carlton. Collection efforts will be ongoing through Oct. 31.

n an effort to help the woman get back on her feet again, Jakubek first gave her some used summer clothing which helped heighten her self image and esteem, but while trying them on, the woman commented, “If I had a better bra it would make me feel better – period.” It turned out the woman owned only one bra – a stretched-out sports bra. Jakubek dug through her own lingerie drawer and found three bras she no longer wore to give to the woman, who was about the same size.

“She was beyond excited!” said Jakubek. “Her posture was better, she looked slimmer and she even looked younger.”

That’s what gave Jakubek the idea of sponsoring a bra collection project at Curves from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, to be donated in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to the women at Liberalis.

“The women who go there are often in desperate need of bras since they frequently come in with nothing but the clothes on their backs – sometimes only a hospital gown,” explained Jakubek. “Also, since these women are in recovery for substance abuse and go through a lot of weight loss and gain in the process, the bras they have may no longer fit.”

Members at Curves have already contributed some 84 new and “gently used” clean bras during the first week of the project, all of which Jakubek is hooking together and making into a “bra ball” to present to the Liberalis program at the end of the time period. The public is invited to bring in contributions as well to Curves, 1111 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet.

“Let’s give out as much support as we can,” said Jakubek, “ – emotionally as well as literally!”

Bundaberg hooked on bra record

“WE did it!” The words came from Citizens Who Care founder and chair Rob Bauer with a mixture of excitement and relief after the world's longest bra chain record attempt was successful over the weekend.

At 4.07pm on Saturday, Mr Bauer stopped his army of volunteers for a second to break the good news.

“I was counting right the way through and I was keeping quiet about it and they thought something was wrong,” Mr Bauer said.

“I told them, we cheered and then all had a beer.”

A total of 166,625 bras were hooked together to form a chain stretching 163.775km around the Bundaberg Showgrounds beating the previous mark held by Cyprus by a whopping 52km or 54,883 bras.

“We could have stopped then but I thought if we are going to break a world record we are going to do something people are not going to have a go at (for a while),” Mr Bauer said.

It took Mr Bauer three years and one month to collect the bras for the record attempt - which was organised to support the McGrath Foundation breast cancer charity.

“Now I'm going to have a rest and go on holidays,” Mr Bauer said.

“I do have something new planned but I haven't talked about that with my wife yet.”

The record attempt would not have been successful without help from volunteers like Helen Rimmington who gave their time to hook and clamp the bras together.

“I used to take them home and sit in front of the TV hooking them together,” Mrs Rimmington said.

“I had blisters on my fingers from all the hooking.”

Mrs Rimmington was astounded by the amount of support the attempt received.

“It is just absolutely phenomenal the support. We could not have done it by ourselves and the people who have come out of the woodwork have been amazing,” she said.

Citizens Who Care now face an anxious wait to see if the Guinness Book of World Records judges their attempt as valid, which could take months.
